The far-right attacks on our democracy are getting out of control.
During a speech in April, conservative gubernatorial candidate Scott Jensen took aim at Secretary of State Steve Simon. Jensen spewed more baseless conspiracy theories and even suggested that the Secretary of State should serve jail time.
That's ridiculous. Here in Minnesota, we enjoy safe, secure, and fair elections. That's why our state consistently ranks at the top of the nation in voter turnout. And these successes are thanks, in part, to the hard work of Secretary of State Steve Simon.
Simon protected same-day registration and absentee voting from conservative attacks. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, he led efforts to empower Minnesotans to vote safely.
Keeping our elections accessible isn't a crime. On the contrary, it's one of the things that make Minnesota great.
